    • Crossover - Released November 2006, this study finds that many artists' work spans two or more sectors, that artists would increase such crossover if money were not an issue, and that each sector provides artistic development opportunities. Commissioned by the William and Flora Hewlett Foundation, the James Irvine Foundation and Leveraging Investments in Creativity, a national initiative to improve conditions for artists in all disciplines.

    • Investing in Creativity - In 2000, a major study was commissioned by 38 funders nationally, resulting in a 2003 benchmark report produced by the Urban Institute in Washington, D.C. The study demonstrates that artists have significant needs in multiple domains, including training and professional development, materials supports, access to markets, public validation, information, and participation in larger communities and networks.
